Trip itinerary

Day 1


Arrival Kuching. Meet and assist upon arrival at Kuching International Airport by flight (TBA) and transfer to the hotel for check in. Free at own leisure.

Day 2

Orang Wildlife Centre

Half Day walking Heritage Tour – Semenggoh Wildlife Centre. 0900 hrs – Pick up from hotel lobby for Kuching Heritage Walking tour. The tour includes the visit of the Tua Pek Kong Temple, the oldest Chinese Temple in Sarawak, Winding through the heart of the city visiting the majestic Astana, the former palace of the White Rajahs. the old colonial Court House and the Sarawak Museum. 1400 hrs start your journey to Semenggoh Orang Utan Wildlife Centre situated about ½ hour drive from Kuching, here, the orangutans are being nurtured to readapt themselves to the jungle life. You will have the chance to observe the Semi-Wild Orangutans coming out of the forest for the feeding time. After tour, return to the hotel. Included B/L.

Day 3

Bako National Park

Bako National Park. 0800 hrs – Pick up from hotel lobby, for a scenic drive this morning brings you to Bako Fishing village where an exciting boat ride takes you to marvel at the abundant natural beauty of Sarawak’s most popular National Park. Trek along the trails to spot wildlife in its natural surroundings including the proboscis monkeys, the monitor lizards, bearded pigs, silver leaf monkeys and more than one hundred species of birds. The stunning tropical rainforest ranges from the mangrove swamp forest to kerangas (Heath forest) to cliff and beach vegetations. Exotic plants found along the trails include the several species of pitcher plants and wild orchids. You may end your trekking at a beautiful secluded swimming beach. Lunch at Park Canteen before return back to hotel. Included B/L

Day 4

Ulu Sarikei Countryside

Kuching – Sarikei – Ulu Sarikei. 0830/1200 Depart from Kuching by express boat (fast passenger ferry) to Sarikei. Continue by land to Ulu Sarikei Countryside. View the hilly scenery on the way with some peppers vineyards, rubber trees, rice paddy even longhouses just by the roadside. Upon arrival longhouse, a warm welcoming by your host and brief you some longhouse information and culture. Go for some village walk in the evening, see the friendly local community. Come back in time before sunset. Prepare local meals for dinner such as the Pansuh (chicken meat cooked in bamboo) and taste the Tuak (rice wine) together with your host. After dinner, relaxing and sharing stories & legends with the host in the Ruai (Veranda). Retreat for the night. Included B/L

Day 5

Ulu Sarikei Countryside

Nature’s bounty in a Rural County. Early morning join the villagers to experience local rubber tapping activity. Feel the tough job of how extract natural rubber latex come from and also process the rubber sheet. Back to longhouse for breakfast & rest. Embark on your journey through the still green and undisturbed forest, with sightings of flora all the way. Here, you can understand how the local people say “Rainforest is the biggest supermarket for free”. View up close and personal with some of plants and herbs that the locals normally use for food or medical purpose and even for making ink as the base for Pua Kumbu. Prepare and enjoy lunch in the middle of the rainforest while the sound of nature and gushing waterfall echoes in the background. Upon arrival Sibu, check-in Hotel for a rest. Join us on a tour to the mind boggling Sibu Night Market, which is opened every night except when there is heavy rain. Be amazed by the food, gadgets, textiles, utensils & all things interesting at this amazing place. Included B/BBQ L

Day 6

Sibu -Melanau village

Malaysia’s Longest River Stroll. Walk, Talk, Shop & Eat. After Breakfast, take a leisurely stroll on a beautiful esplanade alongside Malaysia’s longest river – The Mighty Rajang River. Cut cross the winding streets of Old Sibu Town and soak in the sights and smells of pastries baking in earthen ovens, alley ways small businesses that provides priceless photo opportunities as you head towards the Sibu Heritage Centre. After this journey back into time, walk onto to the biggest Central Market in Malaysia. You will get a real feel of how the people of Sibu live and get to see seasonal fruits, catches that are unique to Sibu. Journey into Our Seafarer’s Heartland : Sibu – Sg Kut – Dalat – Oya – Mukah. The Melanaus are one of the most celebrated ethnic tribes in Sarawak, known for their gentle, loving nature and seafaring skills. From Sibu, jump onto a speed boat and head towards Dalat Town. This boat journey will bring you through the meandering river, passing Malay villages, shipyards, Iban longhouses and Melanau villages. Mid-way through your journey, jump off the boat for a stop at the Sungai (River) Kut Melanau Village and take a glimpse into the peaceful, undemanding and amazingly serene village life. Continue your journey to Lamin Dana. This Authentic Melanau Village, which houses the Melanau Cultural Centre. Spend the night at this cultural heritage and let your host spin you yarns from days of old. Note: Lamin Dana is an Authentic Melanau Boutique Lodge as such there are no private washroom or attached bathrooms. Included B/D

Day 7

Sarawak Mukah -Bintulu

Go Ethnic in Sarawak Mukah -Bintulu. Lamin Dana Melanau Cultural & Heritage Tour. After breakfast, take a boat ride along the Tellian River and Misan River. Visit a local sago processing centre in the cottage industry of producing Sago Pearls in a traditional method. Visit a sago bake house to see how sago is being baked into sago pearls for local consumption and export. Continue the boat ride to Mukah River and visit the Mukah market where you can encounter local people trading with each other. Observe some of the local produce that are on sale such as the Siet (Sago Worm), Umai (fresh raw fish similar to the sushi) and others. Return back to Lamin Dana where late lunch served. Bid farewell to the locals and proceed overland to Bintulu using the only cross division road. Rest stop will be at Balingian and Kuala Tatau. Check in upon arrival in Bintulu. Note: Distance Mukah to Bintulu 140KM. Included B/L

Day 8

Niah National Park

Bintulu – Niah National Park – Miri. Breakfast at the Hotel and then proceed to Niah National Park. Upon arrival, register at the Park HQ. Take the long boat ride at Pengkalan Lobang to cross the river where we will start off with a visit to the Niah Museum. The prehistoric Niah Caves is famed for its role as one of the birthplaces of civilization in Asia. The oldest human remains were found in Niah making the park one of the most important archaeological sites of the world. Tour of the cave will take you through the Great and Painted Caves as well as allowing you to witness the age-old remnants of bird’s nest harvesting equipment inside the cave (now a government-controlled activity). Tour into the caves will take approximately 4 hours. After late Lunch, proceed to Miri. Check-in Hotel. Farewell dinner at local restaurant. Included B/D
