This 6-days tour in Kola peninsula - to Komi village takes place from December to March, when there is enough snow to get the village by snowmobiles in the tundra. An amazing experience to live and learn about the Komi culture, and their daily-life as reindeer herders. The trip is especially interesting starting on December 30th during the celebrations of new year when the Sami organize many ceremonies and rites.

Trip itinerary

Day 1

Krasnoshchelye village

ARRIVAL TO MURMANSK Meeting with your guide and driver, transfer to the Lovozero village, the starting point of our tour. 14:00 DEPARTURE TO THE KRASNOSHCHELYE VILLAGE. After the lunch, a brief introduction and instructing, packing luggage, dressing up in warm clothing (Sovik, a coat of reindeer fur) and felt boots. Then we start to move on a sled behind a snowmobile to village Krasnoshchelye. 18:00 ARRIVAL AND ACCOMMODATION IN THE GUEST HOUSE The guest house is situated in the picturesque place in the pine forest. The delicious dinner of the local dishes.
20:00 BANYA (RUSSIAN SAUNA) OVERNIGHT IN THE GUEST HOUSE

Day 2

Krasnoshchelye village

Firstly, we will visit the ethnographic and cultural centre and the local museum - the theoretical part about the local people life. You will know how the real "tundra guardians" since the beginning of time live at the Extreme north and why their hearts remain hot and local people are friendly and hospitable. Also, you will visit the village library and the Orthodox church in the course of building. After lunch enjoy the Russian sauna with birch and juniper twigs. Dinner in the traditional dwelling – kuvaksa. OVERNIGHT IN THE GUEST HOUSE.

Day 3

Krasnoshchelye village

Daily activities to get to know the Komi life. There will be the shashlyk (barbecue) of venison and the traditional tea from the Russian samovar heated by coals. OVERNIGHT IN THE GUEST

Day 4

Krasnoshchelye village

Today you will visit the real reindeer herders, you will know their way of living in this severe region and, of course, you will ride the reindeer sledge through the frozen lakes and snow-covered tundra. You will get acquaintance with the history and culture of the local people: Sami, Nenets and Komi. OVERNIGHT IN THE GUEST HOUSE.

Day 5

Murmansk

We start to move on a sled behind a snowmobile to Lovozero village. After having arrived to Lovozero village, we change our transport and go to Murmansk city by private bus. Transfer to the hotel (extra charge). End of the programme.

Departure

Departure form Murmansk International Airport.
